It's a Boy!

I had my 20 week ultrasound yesterday to check on the baby--make sure there are 10 fingers, toes, heart, kidney's, etc. We found out that Baby #3 is definitely a boy!!! He was not shy about showing off his private parts. This picture is looking at his bottom-side and the arrow is pointing clearly to the parts of a boy.

He was not so kind as to give us a nice profile view. You are looking at his left side. He is on his back with his bottom in the air, knees on his chest, feet above his head. You can kind of make out his nose and lips here, but it's pretty fuzzy.

We'll have another ultrasound in a couple weeks at the parinatologist so we can get a clear picture of his heart to make sure all the chambers and valves are forming correctly. We did this with Vivian, also, because of the defect Julia had. Hopefully we'll get a nice profile picture then.

So, Dan decided that we are going to call him Rufus until he is born--although, not around Julia so that she doesn't get confused when he is born and we start calling him something else. If you are trying to remember, we called Julia "Gertie" and Vivian "Millie". It's just a little game we like to play with everyone :)

She Finally Did It!

After taking Julia to the bathroom one day last week, this is what I came back to--Vivian sitting on the back cushion of the chair playing in the cat food. I really don't know why it took her so long. Julia has been showing her how to boost herself up with pillows and toys for weeks. Vivian's choice for her first time was the block cart. She pushed it across the room and got it right in place. She was so proud of herself.

Pumpkin update

Here's an update on our pumpkins from a couple posts ago.

The giant pumpkin started to turn orange this week.

It looks like my theory about removing the flowers is correct. We now have 1 more pumpkin growing. (The little one in front of it shrivelled after I took this picture)

Playin' in the Rain

We had a nice summer shower one evening last week. Dan decided to take Julia and Vivian out to play in the rain. They were a little chilly, but they had fun splashing around the driveway!

How Does Your Graden Grow?

Because mine grows like a jungle.
Here is our pumpkin patch. This is 2 plants. The one on the right is obviously doing better. We weren't sure if they were going to be yellow squash or pumpkins. We had seeds from both in this spot and they sprouted up this spring.

You would think that a plant this big would have tons of squash or pumpkins on them. Nope. We only have 1 pumpkin. It's huge. I can't get a tape measure around it, but it is over 12 inches from stem to the bottom. I have no idea how much bigger it's going to get, either.

We have had other pumpkins form, but they always rot. I think it might be because the flowers don't fall off. I picked the flower off the latest ball forming so I'll see if my theory is correct. Maybe we won't have to buy pumpkins at all this year!

We even have a little friend keeping our pumpkin patch pest-free

New Playset

Julia and Vivian got a new playset last weekend. Grandma and Grandpa were kind enough to disassemble it from its previous yard in Urbana, bring it down here, and help reassemble it.

Julia could hardly wait to start playing.

Vivian got to move up to a bigger swing--I think she likes it.

Here's Julia "dressing up" in Grandpa's disgusting work hat and sweatband.

The slide works!

It's all done--time to finally play!

Julia tries out her new big girl swing. She's not quite sure about it yet.

Daddy is getting in on the fun, too!

Thanks for all your help Grandma and Grandpa!
